The position of San Vito Lo Capo allows visiting very easily the most important naturalistic and cultural attractions of western Sicily. Those who love nature and archeology can enjoy many opportunities.
Walking or cycling in the Reserve of Mount Cofano
The Reserve of Mount Cofano, characterized by beaches overlooking a clear blue sea and unspoiled, is a glimpse of rare natural beauty. Inside there is a charming fishing village dominated by the Tower of Tuna (dating back to the sixteenth century). According to the historical reconstruction, the Tower, one of a kind thanks to its characteristic star-shaped base, was built to protect the trap from pirate raids. From here you can continue along a path that overlooks the sea, admiring the lovely landscape.
Trekking in the Zingaro Nature Reserve
The Zingaro Nature Reserve is known as one of the most beautiful coasts of Italy. Perfect for lovers of trekking and sea, equipped with sneakers on your feet, have the opportunity to enter the main trail, admire the cliffs overlooking the sea and take small lanes that lead to creeks or small portions of the beach overlooking on the crystal clear waters.
The "Baglio" of Scopello
Overlooking the Gulf of Castellammare is the seventeenth-century Baglio of Scopello surrounded by a few houses, a square and a stone trough. Not far from here you can visit a lovely place: the Scopello tuna.
The "Tonnara" of Scopello
Picturesque place not only for the breathtaking beauty of the natural environment, but also because you can feel the ancient spirit of place (the tuna fishing). It is believed that the Arabs rebuilt and reused handing over the centuries this noble art.
During the summer, the "Tonnara" is the ideal place to organize magnificent sorties by boat or sports typically resorts.
